A Round-Up of the Latest on Social Media Marketing

As we gear up with our marketing plans for 2017 - here are some interesting and insightful articles that could help guide your decisions, strategies, and budgets.

7 Things You're Doing Wrong on Social Media

Think Your Social Media's Ready for 2017? Read This First

Worth a read with some interesting insights from a recent study from web development research website Skilled.co, including:

  • Marketing budgets for social continue to rise with $13.5B projected for 2017.

  • Facebook has the best ROI for social investment with 95.8% of survey respondents reporting a satisfactory return, and 63.5% for LinkedIn, coming in at second place.

For a contrarian view, check out this New York times article with ideas such as:

“A dedication to cultivating your social media brand is a fundamentally passive approach to professional advancement. It diverts your time and attention away from producing work that matters and toward convincing the world that you matter.”

But, again – if you bring relevance and value to your social network as a business, rather than relentlessly promoting yourself and products – then I would argue against that statement.

Relevance. Value. Authenticity. It always boils down to these three principles of effective marketing, and effective social media marketing.
